Since this month, we decided to give space to all volunteers, participants, and friends we have collaborated with during the past years, to express their thoughts and share their Erasmus + experience.
The November interview is with Kiril Mishev, a young ambitious person with wide experience in Erasmus + projects.
Tell us something about yourself: who is Kiril and what is he doing?
Kiril is a young man with an adventurous, creative, and free spirit who has a degree in psychology from the International Balkan University and is a Gestalt student at the Synergy Institute. He is also the founder and president of the Persona Association.
On how many youth projects have you participated so far, and what have you learned from the experience?
To be honest, I have not counted how many projects I have participated in, but on occasion, there would be 10 plus short and long EVS in Turkey – Ankara.
My experiences from all projects were unforgettable and full of adventures. Where from these projects I have met many new friendships with which I am in contact to this day, I have learned many techniques for working with young people and how NGOs are run, all projects have been related to working on themselves and raising awareness among young people about mental health. “Erasmus projects give you the best opportunities, it depends on you how you will use the renaming’s in practice.” As a psychologist, I turned every experience into an opportunity to build myself and apply in my practice and work with young people, which I became part of writing projects for the European Commission.
Explain your Erasmus+ experience in 3 words.
There are thousands of words which I would like to writhe and It’s hard to choose only 3 worlds, but If I need to choose those will be: unforgettable, magical, fun!!!
What was the most interesting moment you had while on an Erasmus+ project?
The most interesting part while I was participating on the Erasmus + projects were the workshops where you need to collaborate with other participants and share different ideas and parts of your and their culture.
What is your favorite traditional food you have tried while participating on a project and where?
Oh, this is my favorite part of the Erasmus program, because I like to taste different cuisines from different cultures, and Erasmus is the real place where you can find all the cultures in one.
So my favorite traditional food comes from Italian, Spanish, and Arabic cuisine. These are kitchens with irresistible taste and too much variety. The taste and colors of Italian bruschetta’s with mozzarella, salmon, and so on; The sweets of Arabic cuisine and the irresistible smell of coffee and tea; and of course the Mediterranean flavor of Spanish seafood.
I can say that as a great food gourmet I enjoyed food from every culture but I separated these three cuisines as the most specific and interesting for me. Of course, here are the different spices and textures, which for me are the most important part for the attractiveness of the eye and then the soul.
Which part from Erasmus+ inspired you to do what you are doing now?
Each part of Erasmus has inspired me in what I do today. Each lecture/seminar, workshop, socializing, creating projects, and so on. Erasmus Projects helps you to build yourself on a high level of professionalism and responsibility with many different techniques and opens new opportunities for you to express and realize your ideas.
How the knowledge/skills/attitudes aquired from participation in youth projects have been beneficial for you?
All of this stuff above was very beneficial for me because after each project me and my group will have a chance to organize a local seminar or workshop where we can transfer our knowledge and skills acquired during Erasmus. By transferring our knowledge and skills on more people we had a beneficial or good impact to our society.
What’s your passion in life?
My passion is traveling, music, dance, acting, modeling, and of course psychology .
What accomplishments are you most proud of?
I am proud of my many achievements, but at this moment I am most proud of my achievement to open my own association for psychological counseling and education “Persona”. One of the most beautiful feelings is to see how something of yours is created, something that you do with love, motivation, and inspiration. Something that has been your dream for many years, and when you finally gather the courage to face all the challenges, reality and perseverance, a miracle happens, a miracle that passes through every cell, nerve, a vein of your body and is filled with pleasure. A feeling that cannot be described in words, but in deeds.
Persona is created in order to be a safe place where everyone can build trust, work on themselves, and their personal growth, their feelings and emotions without discrimination and condemnation.
How is this Covid 19 time affected your life, and what have you done to grow during this year?
The Covid not got just me but everyone around the world. Of course, affected to me in many ways but, I tried to take only the positive stuff and all negative things to convert into lessons. I grow a lot during this year and learn a lot of new things because I saw this situation as an opportunity not as a failed year, as I mentioned above this year I started my own association and I wasn’t thought if I am going to fail or not, I said to myself I am going to make it no matter of what. I succeeded this year with a lot of hard work, motivation and positive thinking.
What would you say to motivate other young people to take part in youth projects?
To not be scared, to be more adventurist, to take every chance that is given to them because you don’t know which one is your lucky one, to explore, and to be open-minded.
