CET Platform has hosted the last activity of European Youth Work Academy – “Training of Trainers”

Already for the third time during the last 5 months CET Platform is hosting in Belgrade the training course, which is a part of a wide scale project under the title “European Youth Work Academy”. The first two activities, “Training of Management” and “Training of Leaders” gave to participants the opportunity to build partner relationships with the organizations from all over the Europe, to exchange examples of good practice and work, to learn how to organize youth activities. and finally this week, during the “Training of Trainers”, – to get deeper into trainers skills and knowledge that will be used in sustainable education of other youth workers and young people about topics concerned with youth organizations, their activities and cooperation. The project was implemented with the support of the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
The activity took place in Belgrade, Serbia, during 22-29th of April, 2016, and has brought together 29 youth workers from 24 European countries – Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Estonia, France, Greece, Italy Kosovo, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malta, Montenegro, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, UK.
The activity was built on using the non-formal methods of education under the guidance of experienced and highly professional trainers – Vojislav Vujić (Serbia), Max Fras (UK), and Agnieszka Janik (Poland). With a lot of new knowledge and practical skills, participants have developed and improved their competences as trainers, which will definitely contribute to increasing the quality of youth work in their organizations and Europe generally. Along with practical work, participants gained knowledge about trainer’s skills and useful tools, such as Compass, Salto, T-Kit, ETC Competence Model, UK NA Trainers portfolio, etc.
Besides the great impact on participants, organizations, local and European communities, one of the biggest results of European Youth Work Academy can be considered several follow-up activities and new activities that will allow the former participants to practice and master all the competences they developed during the project, from management and organization to training and inspiring new generations of youth workers all over Europe.

EUROPEAN YOUTH WORK RESOLUTION The European Youth Work Resolution was created during the “Training of Trainers”, a training course that took place in Belgrade, Serbia during 22-29th of April, 2016, as a part of European Youth Work Academy. The resolution is a set of proposals and recommendations for youth workers, organizations and institutions on different levels:

EUROPEAN LEVEL:  Recognition of non-formal education;  Funding of Balkan Window to be simplified and increased;  Opening the Eastern Partnership Window;  More trainings on management, recognition of NFL, and leadership;  Use of “simple language” (understandable for beginners);  Increasing budget for youth exchanges (especially transportation);  Change of Erasmus+ distance calculator (for the actual one);  Fair distribution of grants;  Youth work ethic.

NATIONAL LEVEL:  Combination of non-formal and formal learning (in educational context);  More efficient and approachable National Agencies;  Improving competences and effectiveness of National Agencies;  Harmonization of rules and procedures of National Agencies;  More transparency in funding;  Support to establishing new organizations;  Support to cooperation with Balkan Window and other countries;  Supervision of National Agencies (e.g. by NGOs);  Recognition of non-formal education;  Recognition of youth workers (as a profession);  Minimizing the amount of papers and hard copies;  Improving civic (youth) participation.

LOCAL LEVEL:  Increasing awareness of Erasmus+ Programme (e.g. workshops, info days, special events);  Increasing awareness of non-formal education;  Local youth policies to be modernized;  More local activities with a special focus on remote areas and inclusion;  Youth to be informed about opportunities;  Better involvement of local community in the work of organizations.  Involvement of local organizations and institutions in youth work activities.

ORGANIZATIONAL LEVEL:  Specific training courses for youth workers with detailed instructions and information;  Establishing reliable partnerships with other organizations;  Setting specific (more strict) requirements for participants;  Focusing on participants’ ability to transmit knowledge to organizations;  Preparation of participants before projects;  Promoting of YouthPass as a recognition of non-formal learning;  Giving to participants practical skills (project management, facilitations, training);  Support to participants in applying acquired competences in their organizations;  Good communication with participants, partners, and other stakeholders;  Wider dissemination of project results. PERSONAL LEVEL:  More volunteering and commitment in civil society;  Promoting of YouthPass as a recognition of non-formal learning;  Creating a database of organizations;  Wider dissemination of project results.
