Media Literacy Index 2021: is there resilience to fake news and post-truth in Europe?

Our member of Youth Council Next Generation Kristina Dimitrova is writing articles about Countering disinformation as part of the SEE Youth Newsroom 2021. The South East Europe Youth Newsroom is a network of young journalists and journalists’ students from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, and Kosovo* (under UNSCR 1244), established by the Centre for Development of Youth Activism (CROA) under the UNESCO EU-funded project “Building Trust in Media in South East Europe and Turkey – Phase 2”.

The Index is 4th edition in a row and ranks 35 European countries according to their resilience to fake news and the post-truth phenomena during the Covid-19 infodemic. It uses indicators as: media freedom, level of education, trust in society and implementation of new online tools for citizen participation.
