By youth exchange ‘Living Together: Let’s Work on Common Understanding’ we aim to create more inclusive society by addressing the issue of stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination and by raising understanding of young people on the importance of intercultural dialogue. During 7-days youth exchange the participants will explore storytelling as innovative tool of intercultural learning and dialogue. Youth exchange will provide an opportunity for the participants to interact with local people and to gather their stories as reflection of their values, perceptions and opinions.
Objectives of Youth Exchange:
o To strengthen knowledge of the participants on using storytelling as innovative tool of intercultural learning and dialogue;
o To raise awareness of the participants on using storytelling as tools of fighting stereotypes, prejudices and tackling the roots of discrimination;
o To provide space for intercultural learning and to increase participant’s intercultural competencies;
o To empower participants to address stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination in their communities;
o To provide the participants an opportunity to develop individual set of competencies including communication, creativity, problem solving and team work;
o To increase participant’s knowledge on Erasmus + Programme and support developing new project ideas especially under Key Action 1.
We plan to implemented youth exchange with Programme countries. We plan to involve 48 participants with following profile:
-young people in age 18 to 30 residence of participant’s countries;
-strongly interested to explore storytelling as tool of intercultural learning and dialogue;
-motivated to address to raise their knowledge on stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination and to learn new ways how to address them;
-motivated to increase their intercultural competencies and gain better understanding of the importance of intercultural dialogue;
-ready to work in mix-intercultural learning environment, to contribute to successful project implementation;
-motivated to take part in Erasmus + project, work in international team and share their experiences in follow up period;
– have communicative level of English and be able to take part in preparatory meetings, youth exchange and follow up activities.
Every group will include participants with fewer opportunities facing cultural differences and social, economic obstacles. It means young people who face unemployed, are coming from socially and economically challenging environment and/or might face discrimination, stereotypes and prejudices in their communities. Partners will be responsible to include 4 participants with fewer opportunities in their groups. Partners are working with young people with fewer opportunities on daily bases. They are aware of their needs and interests and they are fully ready support their participation and involvement in the project.
Main impact of the youth exchange will be raised awareness of the participants and the partners on the importance of intercultural dialogue and learning, addressing discrimination, stereotypes and prejudice. Moreover, the participants and the partners will explore storytelling as innovative tool of learning about other cultures, customs and traditions and building common understanding. Key results of the project will be local interactive workshops in every participating countries, new project ideas for international project activities, project blog and booklet of good practices.
